Great.

The weather has been unseasonably mild as of late, but that’s all going to be changing very soon.

Met Éireann forecasters have predicted plenty colder days and nights ahead, with the temperatures set to start to drop tonight.

It’s going to be “cold and frosty” over the north and east parts of the country tonight, with long, clear spells. The temperatures will reach as low as -2C in some of these areas.

Meanwhile, in the west and southwest, it’s going to be could and mild with an “odd spot” of drizzle and temperature lows of 4C to 7C.

Wednesday will be dry in most places, although there will be a few patches of rain near the south and west coasts.

Temperatures will reach between 4C and 8C, although will be “possibly a few degrees below this where any mist or fog lingers”.

There will be a few sunny spells, with the best in the north and east.

The forecaster added:

“The overall weather theme is for it to stay essentially dry through Thursday, Friday and indeed on Saturday.

“Daytime weather conditions will be mainly dry and pleasant.

“Cloud will vary with the south and east likely to get the better sunny breaks. Other than light south or southeast breezes near Atlantic coasts, it’ll be mostly calm, though quite cool with temperatures at best in high single figures.

“However the nights will be quite chilly with frost and fog patches forming.

“The frosts will be sharp occasionally in the midlands, north and east. Any minimal precipitation will be confined to western coastal margins and hilly places.”
