The Bank Holiday weekend is almost here.
A three-day break is always a good shout but if you have major plans in place that involve going outside, you might be interested in the latest weather update.
It’s not looking very enticing as the Bank Holiday is likely to bring thunder, hail and heavy rain.
At a glance, here’s a breakdown of each day over the Bank Holiday but this is subject to change and it’s important to keep an eye on the Met Éireann website where all updates will be shared.
Friday
Cold, blustery and windy with showers and some hail expected. The heaviest of these showers will occur in the north and west so take note if you’re travelling in those directions. There’s also the chance of frost overnight, particularly in inland areas.
Saturday
Cold again with more showers and there’s also a risk of thunder. Rain is likely to be heavy and most frequent in coastal counties whereas inland counties should see things ease off.
SATURDAY will continue cold with sunshine & showers of rain or hail. A few may be thundery. Showers will be heaviest & most frequent in coastal counties. They’ll be more isolated in inland counties. Highs of 6 to 9°C with fresh, gusty N winds, strong at times in coastal areas.

Sunday
On Sunday, showers may occur in east and north facing coastal counties and other parts of the country should experience sunny spells.
Monday
A dry day in most areas, particularly in the east. Cloud in the west and southwest with rain likely in the latter part of the day.
Bank Holiday MONDAY will be dry in many areas w/ sunny spells, the best of these in the E. It will be cloudier in the W&SW with rain dev. later in the day. It will cont. cold with highs of 6 to 10°C & mod. to fresh SE winds.
