24-year-old breast cancer activist Ziva Cussen has sadly passed away, her family has announced.
Her family shared a short statement on Instagram over the weekend. They confirmed Ziva died on Saturday, January 17th.
They shared, "Our beautiful Ziva passed away peacefully yesterday evening, Saturday, the 17th of January. Forever loved and always remembered."
They added, "Sunrise 20/10/2001 - Sunset 17/01/2026."
Ziva was sadly diagnosed with stage four breast cancer at the age of 21. She campaigned for early detection for young women after doctors told her the lump she found was nothing serious.
They initially reassured her that the 'very small lump' was nothing serious, but she was later diagnosed with stage four breast cancer, which then spread to her bones and brain.
The breast cancer activist has been fondly remembered by her loved ones.
Leading the tributes, James Patrice wrote: "I am so sorry to hear of Ziva’s passing. Anytime I had the pleasure of meeting her, she was kind, warm, charismatic, and an abundance of joy, not to mention a true inspiration to so many. Thinking of her family."
"You will be so missed, beautiful Ziva. What an incredible soul. May you fly high, beautiful angel," another wrote.
"There are no words. Ziva had such a positive and profound impact on younger people, and she did so much for our community. Countless lives will be saved from her advocacy work. We love you, Ziva," another wrote.
