Two men have been arrested and charged in southern France with raping a teenager as well as filming and circulating the footage online.
A video uploaded to a Snapchat account in France this week saw two men apparently raping a ‘groggy’ woman who appeared to be drunk or sedated. The attackers’ faces were hidden behind emoji stickers in the video.
According to The Independent, the video allegedly shows two men “humiliating” a young woman before assaulting her. She was later found at an apartment “in a state of shock”.
After the video went viral, French police launched an investigation into the attack and two men have now been arrested and charged in connection to the incident.
They have been charged with raping a teenager and videoing the assault on Snapchat.
Lawyer Francoise Nogues confirmed that two men aged 18 and 22 were yesterday charged for the incident with “aggravated gang rape” of an 18-year-old girl and with “diffusion of pornographic images.”
It has since emerged that the girl knew both men, and that police would seek to ascertain “whether the sexual contact was completely and freely accepted”.
