Two people taken to hospital after Luas collides with truck in Dublin

Two people were taken to hospital after a Luas struck a truck on the Red Line in Dublin early on Friday morning. The incident happened at the Cheeverstown section of the track in Tallaght. Shortly after 6am the alarm was raised and six units of the fire brigade attended the scene - the two people injured were believed to have suffered spinal injuries. As a result, the lorry was dragged by the Luas and wedged between the Luas and a set of railings on a traffic island. AA Roadwatch said: "Following an incident involving a Luas and a truck, the Red Line is not running between Saggart and Belgard and will only operate between Tallaght and the Point."
