Folk up and down the country are kicking off the celebrations in various different ways, however for those adventurous souls that partake in an annual Christmas Day swim, there's been a few warnings issued.
According to RTÉ News, people are asked to be wary of slightly more hazardous conditions than normal this year due to a full moon.
Swimmers are being alerted to strong tidal streams and rip currents.
A full moon is set to appear in the Christmas sky for the first time since Christmas Day 1977.
