Wayne Rooney was driving a woman home when arrested for drink-driving

He was kept in a police cell on Friday morning.

Wayne Rooney was travelling in a car with a 29-year-old woman when he was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving.

The footballer’s wife, Coleen, is pregnant with the couple’s fourth child and is currently on holidays in Spain with their three sons.

DailyMail.com reports that Wayne was pulled over by police while driving “a 29-year-old brunette home from a night out in her Volkswagen Beetle”.

It is furthermore stated that the former England striker had been seen dancing on the tables and singing while socialising in bars closeby to his €6.5million home on Thursday.

He had been out with fellow footballer Wes Brown, as well as the younger brother of defender Phil Bardsley. The trio went for a meal in an Italian restaurant at around 4pm before moving on to a bar.

On Friday, Rooney spent almost 12 hours in cells before being bailed and driven home by his agent, Paul Stretford

The 31-year-old announced his retirement from international football recently after a record 53 goals and 119 appearances for his country.

The former Manchester United man lives with his wife of nine years in the Cheshire area of England.

Last month, Coleen, 31, took to Twitter to confirm her fourth pregnancy after weeks of speculation. She is already a mum to Kai, Klay, and Kit.
