Met Éireann have issued a week long cold weather advisory warning for all of Ireland.

The status yellow caution was issued at noon on Friday, February 23 and will last until the same time on Friday, March 2.

The forecasters said that there was going to be “exceptionally cold weather” on the cards for next week, with “significant wind chill and severe frost”.

Disruptive snow showers expected from Tuesday onwards in the east and southeast.

Met Éireann have forecast a cold and frosty night on Friday, with temperatures reaching as low as -1C.

And there won’t be much change as the weekend begins, with Saturday forecast to be generally dry with breaks in the cloud.

It will be between 4C and 8C during the day, but it will drop to -2C in some areas that night.

Sunday will be another dry and sunny day, with temperatures hitting 4C to 7C.

And it will turn even colder on Sunday night, reaching lows of 0C to -3C.

It will be very cold for the time of year, Met Éireann forecasters have warned, with temperatures staying around the low single figures inland and around 5C and 6C on the coasts.

Overnight, there will be severe frost and the risk of snow showers along the northern and eastern coasts – reaching lows of -2C to -4C.

Forecaster warned that it will “turn progressively colder” from Tuesday, with severe frosts and snow showers becoming more widespread.

Some disruptive accumulations are likely, especially in the east and southeast.
