‘Wet and windy’: Met Éireann say it’s going to be pretty manky all day

Olivia Hayes

It’s a pretty horrible morning.

But, it doesn’t look like it’s going to get much better throughout the day. We’re going to have wet and windy conditions, and mist and fog covering the country later tonight.

Met Éireann said: “Wet and windy in most areas at first, but clearer conditions, with just a few scattered showers, will extend from the northwest during the morning, reaching most areas by early afternoon.

“However, misty conditions, with rain will continue in most parts of Munster and will extend to all parts again this evening and early tonight. Maximum temperatures 9 to 12 Celsius, with fresh to strong west to southwest winds at first, veering westerly and decreasing moderate to fresh.”

And for tonight: “Rain will be widespread for a time, with hill and coastal fog. Clearer conditions, with scattered showers, will extend from the northwest, reaching the northern half of the country by morning. Mild at first, but turning colder in the north and northwest with the clearance.

“Minimum temperatures 3 to 7 Celsius, in fresh and gusty westerly winds, strong along southern, western and northern coasts.”
