Neighbours discovered the injured woman laying on the ground.
A woman had to be airlifted to hospital after she was injured by a wild stag in Co. Kerry yesterday.
According to RTÉ, the attack took place in the Glencar area in Killorglin, among the foothills of the MacGillycuddy's Reeks.
Neighbours discovered the woman laying on the ground near a private residence and called for assistance. An air ambulance quickly arrived and took the woman to hospital where she received treatment for a number of injuries, including broken ribs. She remains in hospital.
It's understood that the stag had no fear of humans and was familiar to locals. He would approach homes for food in the evening times.
RTÉ reports that the stag was subsequently shot by a trained huntsman who was called on by authorities.
The National Parks and Wildlife Service and the Irish Deer Commission regularly remind the public to keep their distance from wild deer. A distance of at least 50m is recommended and the public are warned not to feed them.
