“There is no excuse for dumping puppies.”

A woman is being investigated for animal cruelty after she allegedly dumped a bag of puppies in Coachella, California.

The woman was caught on CCTV throwing the bag of puppies beside a dumpster behind an auto parts store in the valley.

The abandoned dogs were just three days old.

Riverside County Animal Services were contacted by the store who became aware of the puppies when a passer-by noticed them in the bag.

The group said that if the man, named John, had not rescued the puppies they may not have survived in the mid-30 degree heat.

Commander Chris Mayer called the woman’s actions “despicable” and said that he and his colleagues are building an animal cruelty case against her with Riverside County Sheriff’s investigators and the District Attorney’s office.

“The Good Samaritan played a major role in saving theses puppies’ lives,” he said. “His actions were humane and heroic.”

“There is no excuse for dumping puppies.

“Especially in today’s age when we or other shelters would be willing to get these animals to foster parents or rescue partners. This was a shameful act.”

The pups are now in the care of a local foster centre.
