Gardaí are currently appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the fatal road collision to come forward.
A woman in her 60s has died following a road traffic collision on the southband M8 motorway at Juncion 4 this morning.
The crash took place at 11:30 am after a truck and car collided in the townland of Longford Pass. Her body was removed from the scene and taken to the mortuary in South Tipperary General Hospital. A post-mortem is expected to take place in due course.
The truck driver - a man in his mid-twenties - was treated for shock at the scene by paramedics.
Local diversions are currently in place as the road remains closed. The Garda Forensic Collision Investigators are conducting an examination of the scene.
The Gardaí are currently appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the fatal road collision to come forward and use the reference number PR16152/2021.
In a statement, they said: "Any road users who were travelling on the M8 southbound, south of junction 4, and who may have camera footage (including dash cam) is asked to make it available to Gardaí.
"Anyone with any information is asked to contact Thurles Garda Station on (0504) 25100, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station."
