A woman has pleaded guilty to the attempted abduction of a child from a childcare facility in South County Dublin.

The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, tried to take the two year old  child from an early years school on September 22nd of this year.

According to The Independent, Dublin Circuit Criminal court heard that the woman, who has been diagnosed with schizophrenia, has difficulties with poly-substance abuse.

While she had previously received treatment at the Central Mental Hospital, her condition had apparently improved dramatically.

Judge Martin Nolan released her on bail on the condition that she stay away from any creches, schools or places where children are gathered.

Prosecuter Maurice Coffey, said the State were objecting to her being released on bail due to the risk of her committing more offences while on bail.

Judge Nolan set a date for her sentencing next Tuesday.
