When it comes to engagement rings, some of the shapes (and colours) are definitely more popular than others - and, of course, there are always new trends emerging every year. And while we are always going to have a soft spot in our hearts for the more classic styles, it turns out there has one particular trend that has emerged in 2020: vintage rings. Etsy recently released their list of wedding trends that every couple who is planning their big day (or even thinking about their big day) needs to know about in 2020. The trend itself isn't anything new - vintage-style rings have proven to be popular for a number of years now - but according to Etsy, there's been a 20 per cent increase on searches for rings that fit that description in the last six months. "And there’s no surprise as to why: vintage jewellery offers shoppers heirloom-quality pieces that can’t be found anywhere else," a spokesperson for the website notes. Shoppers are specifically loving the geometric styles of the art deco era, with searches on Etsy for art deco wedding rings increasing 5 per cent in the last six months (compared to the same time the previous year). And to make things even better, buying vintage is an easy way to shop sustainably, as shoppers give new life to existing products. Sustainable styles were another trend on the rise, according to the site, with more and more shoppers becoming mindful about their purchases - and how to incorporate sustainable details into their big day. Things like cufflinks made from recycled metal or vintage veils are an easy way to make a big impact on  style, while making a small impact on the planet. Etsy shoppers are on board with this eco-friendly trend, with searches for reused, recycled, or reclaimed wedding items increasing 7 per cent in the last six months (compared to the same time the previous year).
