Podcast host Lottie Ryan has opened up about her decision to have a small wedding.
The mum explained that she felt like having a more intimate event because it felt like there was less pressure on her.
Speaking on her podcast, Lottie explained that there's so much pressure to have a lavish wedding.
She shared: "It's not a celebration of what's going on. Like my wedding, I fought so hard to have a small wedding.
"I had, I think it was 80 people at my wedding, including family," she shared.
"It was so difficult, because bear in mind, my husband's family are Italian, and when I say Italians like big weddings, like Fabio sister's wedding had a bajillion people at it. Personally, I just wouldn't be able to handle the pressure of having that huge a wedding," she said.
Lottie said she does feel like there's a lot of pressure put on couples to have huge weddings these days.
She said they can often feel like "performance pieces" rather than a wedding celebration.
She added, "I think weddings have, in general, gone off the rails, a little bit like between Pinterest boards, all these viral reels, the pressure to essentially look like you're standing in the middle of a Vogue shoot, like I feel like weddings have turned into these. It's like a performance piece.
There has been a sharp increase in intimate weddings in Ireland, with many couples opting for smaller celebrations.
