The 2019 IKEA catalogue is almost here – and we’ve had a sneak peak

We want it ALL.

Trine Jensen-Burke

It is printed in a mindblowing 203 MILLION copies and 35 different languages every year – surpassing both the Bible or the Quran when it comes to distribution and reach.

And to IKEA fans worldwide, the month of August pretty much means one thing: the new Ikea catalogue comes out.

The importance of the catalogue – the publication of which always leads to a bump in profits for the flatpack empire – is huge, and the scale pretty darn staggering.

For example, the photo studio for shooting the catalogue is one of the biggest in Europe, covering a whopping 8,000sqm in IKEA’s home town, Älmhult.

And guys – while we haven’t seen the entire 2019 catalogue in paper version just yet, the Scandi-retailer just dropped their U.S. cataloge and (spoiler alert!) we want it ALL.

This year marks the Swedish design giant’s 75th anniversary year – so there is an even bigger buzz about this year’s caalogue than normal.

“For 75 years we have been driven by the belief that furniture can be affordable without sacrificing principles of quality, design, and sustainability,” said Shideh Hashemi, Marketing Manager, IKEA U.S. in a press release. “In our 2019 catalog, we are thrilled to introduce a multitude of exciting new products that stay true to our heritage, providing form and function that’s both easy on our wallets and our planet.”

Unfortunately, we don’t have the full page-by-page details just yet, but what we have seen looks SO good – just take a look:

For the first time, IKEA have designed seven specific homes for the catalogue, all with totally unique design sensibilities to celebrate the differences in how people live at home.

There’s the “Haven in the city,” which is full of soothing touches and a neutral palette, there’s “Resourceful and loving it” home, where sustainable touches abound, and the “Where more is more” home, which pretty much explains itself.

Seriously; how gorgeous are all these moody hues and natural textured accents?!

Look, we don’t know about you, but we are totally planning a road-trip to IKEA in the near future…
