#CuratedWithCassie: Our new episode is all about Irish-made skirts and skincare… for guys

Leslie Ann Horgan

We are VERY proud of being Irish here at Her.

For all the complaining we do about our little green island, at heart we know that it’s an absolute privilege to belong to the best craic nation on earth. Like seriously, what other country could offer Tayto, the Toy Show and Michael D?

Heritage is important to us, but sometimes it can be hard to get excited about the things that have surrounded us since childhood. So, we really applaud the people and brands who are out there taking the things that are identifiably Irish and giving them a cool new twist.

On today’s new episode of Curated With Cassie we’re celebrating three such enterprises – ones who are taking Irish fashion, beauty and food into the 21st century. You can watch the full episode below or here.

First up is Darren Kennedy, broadcaster and the creator of the Kennedy & Co men’s skincare line. Male grooming is a major beauty industry trend for 2020, and so we asked Darren to talk us through what products and techniques guys should be using every day when it comes to cleansing, toning and moisturising.

Amazingly, Darren says that it can take just 45 seconds a day for Irish men to dramatically improve their skin. And he has some tips – and products – that us girls can steal too.

New trends for men are also a focus for The Tweed Project this spring. So, we sent Cassie to visit the label that’s taking indigenous Irish fabrics and giving them a modern update at its Galway studio.

There, she met The Tweed Project’s co-founder Aoibheann McNamara, who explained how the company fuses Irish fabric with global influences to create pieces that are anything but traditional: try tweed kaftans, tracksuits and Magee men’s skirts on for size.

The Tweed Project has a sustainable ethos, too, and Aoibheann fills us in on the details of the line’s green ambitions for 2020.

Back in Dublin, Cassie got her latest brunch fix at Daddy’s in Rialto. If you’ve ever visited Cassie’s Instagram stories you’ll know that she’s practically living in this new cafe – so it’s about time she brought us along too!

Owner Colm Keaney took us through the menu where he’s serving fresh takes on classic childhood dishes such as ‘guggy’ eggs in a cup, as well as a vegan version of boxty. Once you’ve seen the Daddy’s plates, you’ll want to get booking for Paddy’s Day brunch…

There’s a new episode of Curated With Cassie landing on Her’s YouTube channel every Monday. Make sure that you never miss an episode by liking and subscribing to the show.
