Trends change as quickly as Irish weather (and that’s a lot) so this new weekly feature is all about what’s in and what’s on the way out.
Team Her talk style, beauty, life hacks, topical subjects, urban dictionary additions and pretty much anything that’s trending.
This is what we’re chatting about this week.
SO OBSESSED WITH…
Beauty heaven
We headed along to the Coty showcase on Wednesday, where we had a sneak peek at what’s coming from some of our favourite beauty brands.
From workshops with make-up experts, new perfume launches and fun illustrations, this was the perfect way to make hump day a million times better.
An important message
Margaret O’Rourke, the brains behind Irish jewellery brand Mo Muse, introduced her autumn winter 2015 collection and there was one piece everyone was talking about.
The Hope pendant is priced at €65 with all of the proceeds going to Pieta House and we feel that makes it a very worthwhile purchase.
It’s a simple yet classic piece that can be worn everyday and it has a beautiful message
The ‘new’ French manicure
Forget white tips because it’s all about the colour.
A nude nail with a bold slash of colour is where it’s at according to backstage beauty at New York Fashion Week.
Models at Tibi, Monique Llhuillier and Cuisine et Ochs were all sporting the trend and it’s definitely something we’re going to try.
K Middy
The Duchess of Cambridge made her first official solo appearance since giving birth to Princess Charlotte.
Between her bangs, glowing skin and monochrome Ralph Lauren dress, the girl crush is strong.
SO OVER….
Being broke
We don’t what it is about this month but we are beyond broke.
Between Electric Picnic, budgeting for a new season wardrobe (or at least a couple of pieces) and bills, bills, bills, we are so over September.
Body shaming
Victoria Beckham showed at New York Fashion Week last Sunday and the fashion designer has since received backlash about the models she chose for the show.
After the mother of four posted photos of the show to Instagram, users of the social media site commented on some of the models, saying they were too thin.
This caused a chat among the Her Team and while we can see where they are coming from, body shaming needs to stop.
It’s time to quit criticising people because they’re “too fat” or “too skinny”.
There’s more important things than physical appearance and we should be celebrating our achievements, rather than pulling each other down.
Dislike
We might have been waiting for the Facebook dislike button for a while but now that it’s on the way, we’re not quite sure what to think.
The novelty has worn off slightly and although it’s sure to cause excitement when it happens, for now we’re very underwhelmed.
