It’s An Irish Invasion – Dublin Born Designer Simone Rocha Receives NEWGEN Award

Staging a runway show at one of the big fashion weeks (New York, London, Paris, Milan) is the ultimate accolade for any designer and it looks like Simone Rocha is firmly on her way to being a permanent fixture on the fashion week schedule following today’s announcement that the 27-year-old has received the NEWGEN award.

The award scheme, funded by Topshop gives up-and-coming designers the financial support needed to stage a fashion week show and will afford Simone the opportunity to show her AW13/14 collection at London Fashion Week in February next year.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with her work, Simone Rocha is fast becoming the go-to girl for the masculine meets feminine aesthetic that is coveted by fashion editors and celebrities alike and Alexa Chung, Rita Ora and Saoirse Ronan are among those who have championed her work on and off the red carpet.
