The new Zara store is about to change the way we shop forever

Best of both worlds

Olivia Hayes

A new Zara store has opened, testing the waters for fast fashion.

But will it work as efficiently as hoped?

The shop, in Westfield Stratford in east London, is a temporary pop-up, but the retail giant wants to see how popular it will become.

See, the difference with this store is that it’s a ‘click-and-collect’ which means no more messing around with online orders.

The shop will have elements of its various collections in the store, with retail assistants helping you choose the perfect outfit.

But more importantly, the shop is aiming to quickly help you with online purchases, returns and exchanges.

Chairman for Inditex, the company which owns Zara said: “[This is] another milestone in our strategy of integrating our stores with the online world, which defines our identity as a business.

“[It] will feature a radical new store concept with technology at its heart designed to transform the customer shopping experience.”

The mirrors in the store are embedded with information screens which will quickly scan through the Zara website for you, and mix and match clothes to come up with the perfect outfit.

And if you see something in the store, you can order it there and then, for it to be delivered to your door within a day.

Basically it will be a hub for online orders, and if all goes to plan, more stores like this one will be rolled out worldwide.

Apart from screens in changing rooms and desks for online orders, we’re not really sure how different it will be from any other shop, but we’re staying optimistic that it’ll make shopping even easier for us.
