The best Halloween costumes no matter what your hair colour is

Ellen Fitzpatrick

We got you.

Halloween is closer than you’d think and as it is bound to creep up on us (pun absolutely intended) in no time, now is the best time to start getting your costume together.

With a cost of living crisis, the last thing we want to be doing is buying more than we need for one costume, and when it comes down to it, wigs are often the most unnecessary part of any costume.

Making things that much easier, going for a costume of your natural hair colour is always the best route, and there are so many great costumes for each one.

We’ve found the coolest ones so you don’t have to, narrowing it down to each hair colour and even finding ones best suited for groups, trios and BBFs.

Blondes

Elle Woods is a classic, and who doesn’t want to wear all pink for one night?

Cassie from Euphoria could be a big one this year and people may just think you’re auditioning for Oklahoma but it’s good nonetheless.

Margot Robbie’s Barbie is another excuse to wear pink for a night, but taking inspo from the rollerskating picture that has been released is an even better take.

Regina George’s mom. Is there any more we have to say for this one?

Paris Hilton in the mid 2000s can go two ways: wearing a pink Juicy Couture tracksuit all night or her 21st birthday dress. That’s it.

Carrie is simple but effective, and definitely has more of a scare factor than the others.

Brunettes

Jenna Rink, a 2000s movie icon and you can find her Thriller dress on Amazon – you’re welcome.

Megan Fox in Jennifer’s Body. That’s it, that’s the costume.

Mia Thermopolis, if it’s good enough for Hailey Bieber last year, it’s good enough for us this year.

Mabel Mora from Only Murders In The Building because who doesn’t want an excuse to be Selena Gomez for a night?

Miss Congeniality is really just an excuse to wear a glam dress and pretend to be more glam than normal.

Chani from Dune. Again, you’re dressed as Zendaya for the night, who would complain about that?

Redheads

Kim Possible, call me beep me if you wanna reach me. Iconic all round plus parachute pants are in right now.

Max Mayfield from Stranger Things, Eleven had her glory on Halloween when the show first came out – now it’s Max’s turn.

Magenta from The Rocky Horror Picture Show. This film is a classic for Halloween, so it would be rude not to do it one year.

Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch is the obvious superhero option this year, with the show being a major success on Disney+, now is the best time to get away with doing this costume.

Geri Halliwell/Ginger Spice, need we say much more?

Sally in The Nightmare Before Christmas is another that kind of leans into the creepier aspect but also just a pure classic.

Or if you’re in a friend group trip with each of these hair colours, you could always just be The Sanderson Sisters, or the Powerpuff Girls.

When it comes to duos, there are a few that are ideal. Velma and Daphne, Hannah Montana and Miley Stewart, Lizzie McGuire and Isabella, Paris and Nicole, Paris and Kim, Kim and Kylie (which works no matter the hair colour).
