The Top Secondary Schools in Ireland Have Been Revealed

The Sunday Times has released its list of the top 100 schools in Ireland today and it's very good news indeed for Munster.

For the second year running, all-girls school Laurel Hill in Limerick city has taken the top honours.

Cork claimed spots two and three, with all-boys school Presentation Brothers College and all-girls school Scoil Mhuire making the grade.

Single-sex schools dominated the top ten, with number nine on the list, Coláiste Na Coiribe in Galway, the highest-ranking mixed school on the list.

Kate Butler of The Sunday Times said: "Munster has generally being doing extremely well. Even though it has half the population of Leinster, it has almost as many schools in our top 100.

"It's a really impressive punching above its weight. You see that in our top three - you have the Limerick school and the two schools located pretty close to each other in Cork city."

Limerick's Laurel Hill is the only non-fee-paying school to top the table in the past 10 years.
