PSA: You can stay in the Hocus Pocus cottage

Sarah McKenna Barry

I want to go to there.

With spooky season just around the corner, now is the perfect time to hunker down, carve some pumpkins and pop Hocus Pocus on the telly. But what if you want to embrace your inner Sanderson sister and go on a Hocus Pocus themed holiday? Well, you’re in luck, because the cottage from the film is available to rent.

That’s right, next month Airbnb are offering tourists the change to live it up in a recreation of the cottage, which, perhaps unsurprisingly, is situated in the famously spooky Salem, Massachusetts.

The cottage is being opened up to guests to celebrate the release of the highly-anticipated release of Hocus Pocus 2 on Disney+.

As well as staying in the spooky cottage, guests will be invited to “try their hand at enchantments enshrined in the ancient spellbook that guided the sisters in all their mischief” and “explore the dark, rich history of Salem with visits to some of the town’s most haunted properties.”

If that wasn’t enough guests will also get to enjoy a special screening of the sequel.

In terms of vibe, Airbnb describe the cottage as “timeworn” and complete with “wooden boards that groan under the weight of curious cats and cupboards filled with blood of owl and herb that’s red”.

Now, bear in mind, this is an exclusive Airbnb stay. While it’s quite reasonably priced at $31 a night, places are limited. Interested parties can request to stay there on Wednesday 12 October at 6 p.m. BST via the link right here. It’s also with noting that guests are expected to arrange their own travel to Salem, so for Irish Hocus Pocus fans, it might be a bit of an issue.

In any case, we’ll be eagerly welcoming spooky season by watching the classic film while gearing up for its sequel.
