The cheap primer hack has been revealed by The Daily Mail, and the even better news is that it's a household item. Many will recognise Milk of Magnesia as a medicine for treating killer indigestion and stomach ulcers, but according to celebrity makeup artist Julianne Kaye, the magical liquid also does a stellar job of keeping your makeup intact.

The fluid's high levels of magnesium break down the excess oil on your skin, giving a perfect matte veil on your face before applying makeup. Julianne recommended the unusual medicinal liquid, and often uses it over the most expensive primers on the market.
