Beauty professional says colouring your hair THIS exact shade can “melt your hair off”

Okay, no thanks.

CAN you imagine?!

Beauty disasters are best avoided although sometimes, there’s really no predicting just how wrong things can go, particularly when they’re DIY disasters that occur at home.

However, the experts know what they’re talking about and listening to their advice is one way to cut down on the amount of things that can go wrong.

If you have an interest in beauty trends, you’ll know that pastel hair is massive at the minute with baby pink hues and lilac shades proving popular.

A current favourite is ‘smoky lilac’ and if you’re not already familiar, check it out here. Gorge.

Achieving the perfect pastel look isn’t exactly easy but beauty professional Sydniiee Oliveira has one very specific tip.

She says using a box dye at home to try and get a pastel effect is an absolutely terrible idea, so much so that it can “melt your hair off”. Yikes.

Apparently, it’s all down to the combination of at home dyes and salon colours. Simply put, they don’t mix very well.

Speaking to Cosmopolitan, she said:

“Box dyes contain chemicals that don’t mix well with other salon chemicals… Whatever you try to do to FIX what this does after you use it, will melt your hair off. I have seen it with my own eyes many times before!

“Literal heating, smoking, and melting of the hair because [boxed dye] was on it before a colour correction had to be done… So use at your own risk and don’t be mad when we say ‘I told you so”.

If you’re a hair chameleon and like to change your look regularly, then opting for a bargain box dye can be tempting.

However, when you think about it and the money that could potentially have to spend to restore your hair to its former glory, it might be time to call in the experts.

As the below Insta post shows, stylists are best equppied to properly transform your locks from one shade to another.
