We stand in awe of the men and women who can slick a clean, black line on their eyelid and then get the other one to match - a true skill. It's a task that's extra tricky for those of us with hooded eyelids. Depending on your eye shape, your line can smudge or simply disappear altogether the minute you apply your liner. But, as with every other conundrum, the internet has come up with a solution. Beauty blogger Francesca Tanmizi has invented her own gloriously simple technique for applying liquid liner on what she calls her 'monolids'. She just draws her line halfway up her lid, as opposed to on her lash line, so that it shows once her eyelids are open. Francesca calls it 'floating eyeliner' and says coming up with it was pure trial and error. "Since 'normal' lining methods don't work for my eyes, I kept testing different methods until I stumbled on this one," she told MarieClaire. "When I first tried it out, I thought it would just be a fun look I'd never wear regularly, but after a while, I started liking this as my regular lining style." A genius quick fix - and we kind of love how graphic and edgy the floating line looks on her eyes when they're shut. We'll definitely be giving this a go next time we're doing a statement eye.
