IN PICTURES: The Real Beauty of Post Pregnancy Bodies Captured in a Sell-Out Book

Simply stunning.

The latest sell-out book isn’t a romance story or crime novel. It’s actually an empowering photography collection based on the beauty of post-pregnancy bodies.

Photographer Jade Beall captured more than 80 images of women who have recently become mothers in her work A Beautiful Body Project: The Bodies of Mothers.

Beall started the project as a campaign for women to stand against the mounting pressures to attain the ‘perfect body’ post pregnancy.

The US photographer captures volunteers with loose skin, stretch marks and their ‘happy scars’, in a series of stunning shots celebrating the mother’s form.

In the preface of her book, the photographer writes:

‘We joyously present you with this revolutionary concept and global body positive and self-love movement: that one need not be photoshopped to be beautiful.

One need not be anyone but one’s own self to be lovely and lovable. One need not buy a thing to ‘improve’ or ‘change’ their irreplaceable preciousness.’

Beall also documents the stories of the mothers and their journeys leading up to the photoshoot on her website here.
