The new autumnal hair trend that’s perfect for brunettes

Even the name is perfection.

Cathy Donohue

Chocolate mauve.

Yes, even the name of this hair trend is FAB and like many hair trends that have gone before, the internet is going mad for it.

Talented Hannah Edelman coined the trend, shared the results to Instagram and explained the process to Pop Sugar.

Hannah, who has her own salon in Brooklyn, New York, custom-blended five different tones: including soft and warm browns, mauve and a pink that’s almost like gold rose gold.

Colour -melting was the technique she used allowing for a “subtle dimension” with somewhat of an iridescent, ethereal effect.

The expert colourist decided to paint darker colours on lower layers of hair, i.e, the type of colour and light placement “that occurs naturally”.

This is namely why the finished product comes across as so soft, natural and perfectly put together even if Hannah started off by selecting “random” colours.

In addition to colour melting, Hannah also used balayage for two reasons: one so that the technique would help blend the lighter hues blend in with the client’s natural hair and two so that it would be kept low-maintenance.

Yay, no roots!
