It may once have been taboo, but pubic hair, and what to do with it is now fair game – and it’s subject to as many changing fashions as our hairstyles.
A recent research survey for Urbana Hair Removal Specialists has shed light on the pubic hair grooming habits of Irish women and the fascinating preferences of Irish men. (Total participants 1,010, 50:50 men/women split).
Bare necessities - what do men expect to see, pubic-hair-wise, when stripped down? Completely hair free? Landing strip? Au naturale? Research shows that women's total removal of their pubic hair has been linked with younger age, sexual function and general appearance, with 79% of men perceiving hair free women to be more adventurous in bed.

With the arrival of the 1980s came high-cut bikinis that left less to the imagination – and with them came the pressure to remove the pubic hair. The idea of a hairless 'down there' was then incorporated into daily life and pushed to the limit, so it’s no surprise that bikini line maintenance has now become mainstream. Studies confirm that removing unwanted body hair is a true pre-beach ritual for most women, but interestingly women are also using hair removal as a mechanism for self-restraint. The survey results showed that 88% of the 500 women questioned purposefully do not remove unwanted hair before a first date to make sure their date doesn’t get past the front door!
Commenting on the results, Urbana Hair Removal Specialists, state that there is a huge demand for Brazilian and Hollywood laser hair removal and waxing services. This trend is growing year on year and shows no sign of slowing down. Speaking about the survey, Paula Cuddihy from Urbana said “The most requested area women have treated is their intimate area with the Brazilian and Hollywood styles proven to be most popular”.
Urbana operates on a pay per session basis so no typical pay upfront course payments are required to start laser. They also offer clients a loyalty card system, so for every 4 treatments you have your 5th will be absolutely free. This applies to all treatments on all areas and saves clients a massive 25% on their treatments.
