Beauty bloggers tell us about their tried and tested products...

Pretty packaging, hero products, must-have purchases…make-up is a subject we could spend hours chatting about.

Everyone has their tried and tested buys and in a bid to find out more about the best way to get bang for your buck, we decided it was time to call in a little expertise.

Beauty bloggers make it their business to trial run products and are up to date with the latest releases before they even hit the shelves.

In a new weekly feature, we’re going to quiz beauty bloggers on their make-up essentials and why these are the products they return to time and time again.

This week, blogger LaurenMcEntee of Lolocola shares her secrets.

I like to try limit the makeup in my day to day beauty bag to just the bare essentials.

I also try to leave all my more high end, expensive beauty products at home as over the years I’ve had makeup get smashed, stolen or lost when I bring it out with me so it’s not worth the risk.

In my opinion a small, portable mirror is the most important thing to keep in your beauty bag.

I picked this one up in Penneys for €1.50. It has a regular mirror and a magnified mirror.

It’s available in other patterns too and it’s a great quality, sturdy compact mirror, especially for such a low price.

A good BB cream is another beauty bag essential for me. If you leave the house without makeup and change your mind during the day, a little BB cream can perk up your skin and your confidence in minutes.

I love this one from Rimmel because it’s available in a matte formula and it has good coverage for a BB cream.

Collection’s Lasting Perfection Concealer is my all time favourite concealer. It’s a bargain at only €5.79. I bring a tube of this with me everywhere I go in case I need to top up my concealer throughout the day or night.

For those of us with oilier complexions, a good pressed powder is a necessity. This translucent powder from Natural Collection is only €2.79 so if it smashes in your bag buying a replacement won’t break the bank.

It’s surprisingly good quality too and is available in Warm, Neutral and Cool tones so there’s one to suit everyone.

Sometimes you just need a little mascara to lift your lashes and your mood. I’m currently loving Maybelline’s Lash Sensational Mascara.

The Sleek Face Form Contouring and Blush Palette is so handy to have in your beauty bag because it’s three products in one (contour powder, highlighter and blusher).

The blusher is a gorgeous colour and can really brighten up your look in a few seconds.

Last but certainly not least is lipstick! I always throw whatever lipstick I’m already wearing into my beauty bag, but I also like to have one that I keep in there all the time.

This Rimmel Lasting Finish Matte Lipstick by Kate Moss in the shade Soft Pink (101) looks great with a full face of makeup or with a barely there, natural makeup look.

As you can see, I’ve used it a lot! I like to keep this lipstick or a similar one in my beauty bag because I believe that you never know when you’re going to need a little lipstick.
