Women are now getting nipple fillers, and sorry WTF

Olivia Hayes

Nipple. Fillers.

All we can think of is Jennifer Aniston in Friends. She was one of the most prominent celebs to don the no-bra-nips-out trend back in the 90s and early 00s – and while we might want to take inspo from her (we certainly try to channel her style), are nipple fillers going too far?

With the rise of celebs going out without a bra (all the power to ’em) it seems that us regular folk want to follow suit – except some women are going as far to getting filler in their nipples to make them protrude through their tops.

An NYC based cosmetic surgeon Norman Rowe told Allure that he has been giving clients ‘designer nipples’ for years now.

“It recently became popular with patients desiring nipples like their favourite reality stars,” he said.

He noted that he receives all kinds of requests including “smaller areoles, smaller nipples, larger areoles, larger nipples, a change in colour and/or change in the shape of the areola, or any combination thereof.”

However, another plastic surgeon Darren M. Smith said that there are great risks involved.

“The nipple is a very sensitive structure that is packed with nerve endings for sensation and milk ducts for breastfeeding.

“I would exercise great caution before injecting fillers into the nipple as the risk of damaging these structures is real. Filler could clog milk ducts or inhibit blood supply to the nipple which could interfere with breastfeeding, sensation, or even damage the nipple itself.”
