WATCH: “Create The Story You Want To See, Write The Story You Want To Hear” – Eva Longoria Shares Her Tips For Women In Business At Dublin Web Summit 2014
She’s best known for her role as Gabrielle Solis in Desperate Housewives, but Eva Longoria credits finding fame in later life for the reason she’s so centred on her education, volunteering and political goals.
Speaking at yesterday’s Dublin Web Summit, actress, businesswoman and philanthropist Eva Longoria spoke to Jemima Khan about the importance of women in business.
The 39-year old challenged women in attendance to mentor other women entrepreneurs, reminding the group that we can be our own worst critics:
"Women start businesses at three times the average yet can't get funding. I want to challenge all the women here today to be mentors to younger women."
Longoria, when asked the secret to women progressing in business, also points out our strongest tool for success:
“People tend to put women in boxes: sexy, young. Our greatest advantage is we're underrated.”
Watch the full interview here where Eva talks about growing up with strong volunteering role models, the struggle to study for her masters, and being the change you want to see:
“Create the story you want to see, write the story you want to hear”.
