Some people like to power-dress. Others may opt for the smart casual look. But how many women choose to wear red lipstick every day? Now one author has polled nearly 500 women about their work-day appearance, writing an essay for the New York Post. Aliza Licht, author of ‘Leave Your Mark: Land Your Dream Job. Kill It In Your Career. Rock Social Media’, decided to interview 460 women – including professionals in law, banking and government workers. When she asked her pool of respondents for the most confident and professional make-up looks a woman can wear, there was one major winner tipping the polls for the perfect office look. Apparently, the best way to set yourself apart from your colleagues is to perfect a professional pout by wearing red lipstick. Of those surveyed, 91 per cent of women said they felt the look was professional and projected confidence in the workplace, while 48 per cent admitted to wearing a slick of lipstick for their interview. Feeling nervous about taking the lippie plunge? Only 14 per cent of women felt that they were judged negatively for wearing red lipstick. So next time you’re interviewing for that dream job, or want to stand out from the crowd, why not slick on some shading to your lips. Not feeling confident enough for pillar box red? Opt for a safer shade such as coral or wine to your lips for a winning look.
