8 things we learned about Adele from her 73 questions with Vogue

Katy Brennan

The singer revealed details about her new album, did some celebrity impressions, and exposed herself as a crazed Celine Dion fan…

In the lead up to her highly anticipated new album, Adele welcomed Vogue into her LA home for their famous 73 Questions segment.

Fans were delighted as she spilled the details about her new music, talked about the biggest risk she’s ever taken, and even contemplated what she’d do if she wasn’t one of the biggest pop stars of all time.

Here are eight things we learned about the star from watching the video.

1.  She’s going on tour ASAP

Ever since Adele revealed she was releasing new music, fans have speculated over when a tour might be coming. The answer is it may be sooner than we think, as the singer said she is pretty much “ready to go” whenever.

“As soon as possible. I’m ready to go,” she told Vogue. “Really…It’s just up to COVID. So just keep on wearing your masks and don’t be spreading that Delta and who knows?”

Exciting stuff.

2. Her new album will feature her second-best song ever

When chatting about fan-favourite songs, the singer revealed that what she considers to be her second best song ever will be on the new album.

“Someone Like You would be my number one,” she said. “But I think there’s a new song on the new album that would be my second one.”

The anticipation is killing us!

 3. She might just be a little TOO obsessed with Celine Dion

It’s no secret that Adele loves her fandoms and turns out she’s a pretty intense fan of Celine Dion – keeping a piece of chewing gum that once belonged to the singer in a frame.

When asked about her most prized possession, Adele whipped out the downright bizarre piece of memorabilia for the camera.

“It’s pretty amazing,” she said. “James Corden, who’s a friend of mine, but also does ‘Carpool Karaoke,’ which I did, he did it with her and knew how much a fan of her I was. So he made her spit her gum into a piece of paper and he framed it for me!”

4. Her favourite Beyonce album is I am Sasha Fierce

After ranking her own songs in order of which ones she liked most, Adele was asked to do the same for her favourite Beyonce albums.

“That could be controversial,” she responded. “My first one is Sasha Fierce, that sublime double album. The second one would be Lemonade. The third one is a bit of a toss-up between two but I’m gonna go with my gut and my heart and say B-Day.”

Adele is a well-known Beyonce stan – in 2017, she broke her Grammy award in half to share with her.

“It was actually really easy [to break in half]. I was so uncomfortable and nervous up on that stage tryna give that speech right in front of her, it just sort of twisted off and on fell off in my hand. It was fate.”

5. She’s “after” Prince Harry

When asked to choose between Prince Harry and Prince William, the singer didn’t even flinch.

“I’m after Prince Harry. I know I said I wouldn’t go out with a ginger, but it’s Prince Harry! I’d be a real duchess then. I’d love a night out with him, he seems like a right laugh.”

6. She can do a killer Al Pacino impression

A woman of many talents. Turns out she’s not just a brilliant singer-songwriter, she’s also pretty decent at celebrity impressions.

“Well, I think it’s good,” she said coyly before impersonating the actor’s famous “Hoo-Ah” line from the 1992 movie Scent of a Woman.

7. She thinks John Mayor is a sweetheart

Back in 2011, Adele  underwent throat surgery to stop a recurrent vocal cord haemorrhage. At the time, she said John Mayer, who she referred to as “such a sweetheart”, offered her some wise words about the post-op process.

She recalled how he encouraged her to “stay silent and be patient.” The result was “a brand-new voice, so clean and pure.”

8. Lastly, she’s hilarious, but we already knew that.

Adele looks happier than ever as she shows Vogue around her home and cracks an abundance of jokes along the way. Around the 18 minute mark, she puts her voice through different simulators, including one that makes her sound drunk and one that makes her sound like she’s singing in the shower.

Let’s just say if you’ve ever wanted to hear a hilarious Alvin and the Chipmunks rendition of Hello, you’re in for a treat.
