We really hope this is true…
It looks like we may all have to take a road trip out to Oriel Park in Dundalk this evening (Wednesday) as despite the fact that his manager has denied it, rumour has it that Ed Sheeran will be in attendance.
According to reports, the Don’t singer will be at the football grounds to watch the sold-out game between Dundalk FC and FC BATE Borisov.
“An official from Dundalk said [Ed’s] manager had been in touch asking for two tickets,” a source said according to The Irish Mirror.
“There was a suggestion that they were going to ask him to put on a Dundalk FC jersey.”
“Ed’s been pictured in an Ireland jersey before during a gig, so I think they just thought they’d chance it,” the source continued.
While the rumours have not been confirmed by Dundalk FC, fans are hoping that the popular singer will in fact be in attendance at the UEFA Champions League clash, and that he might even give an impromptu performance at half-time…
How amazing would that be?!
Sheeran will be in Dublin this weekend where he will play two sold-out shows in Croke Park on Friday and Saturday night.
The Thinking Out Loud singer was also nominated for six VMA awards this week.
Don’t worry Ed, we’ll help you celebrate the news…

However, in response to a fan’s query about the game, Ed’s manager responded that the singer will not be going to the match, but hey, we can live in hope right?
Maybe Ed just hasn’t told him…
