Cyndi Lauper has announced the sad death of her mum, Catrine Lauper.
Sharing the news to Twitter alongside some throwback photos of the two, the singer wrote:
“My beautiful Mom has passed. She rocked and wrestled with us and was in a lot of my videos. It was an honor to work with her.
“I feel so lucky that I got to play with my mom throughout my life, both as a girl and as a woman.
“She may have left this world, but not without leaving her mark. Thank you, Mom. I love you.”

Catrine had appeared in several of Cyndi’s music videos, including the famous Girls Just Want To Have Fun video.
Fans and friends offered their condolences to the star in the comments.
“Sincerest condolences on the passing of your dear mom. May your mom’s loving memory forever be a blessing,” one person said.
“So sorry for your loss. I will always remember your mom in your awesome videos (she was fabulous in She Bop) thinking of you and your family. Thanks to your mom for creating Cyndi Lauper,” another wrote.
Cyndi previously revealed that her mother had been diagnosed with dementia.
She told AARP Magazine: “My mother has a little dementia. She lives in the present. The good thing is, I can talk to her and tell her stuff that I really shouldn’t tell anybody, and she’ll give me these wonderful words of wisdom that a mother does. But then, 10 minutes later she’ll forget.”
