Ellen apologises to Jenna Dewan after introducing her as ‘Tatum’ on the show

Denise Curtin

Awk-ward.

During The Ellen Show yesterday, Ellen DeGeneres accidentally introduced Jenna Dewan by her recent yet former surname Tatum while bringing her onto the set.

Jenna Dewan has just recently split from her husband of nine years, Channing Tatum. The couple announced last month that they were separating via a statement on social media. The couple acknowledged that they still loved each other and that it was a mutual agreement. Jenna, days later then changed her name from “Dewan Tatum” to “Dewan”.

But it was clear that the slip up slightly threw Ellen yesterday, who after the short interview felt the need to apologise to Jenna. She said:

“I have to say, before we go to break, I’m so sorry, I introduced you and it was such a habit, and I have to say the way that you and Channing are handling everything is beautiful for your daughter and the statements have been great. I apologise. I just have known both of you for so long, and I’m so used to saying…”

Jenna smiled getting slightly teary eyed and thanked Ellen and the public for their kind words, the 38-year-old said: “Honestly, thank you and everybody for all the love and support. It’s truly, so amazing. It’s all love!”

Channing and Jenna have a four-year-old daughter together, Everly, who they are going to continue to co-parent saying “we are still a family and will always be loving dedicated parents to Everly.
