Matthew McConaughey has revealed how he drove to Mexico with Penelope Cruz but later dumped her after meeting his future wife in a bar.
In a new biography by Neil Daniels, the Dallas Buyers Club actor opened up about his relationships with some of Hollywood’s leading women, describing how he drove to Mexico with Sahara co-star in his campervan.
‘There’s a bit of a language barrier, but it’s like poetry when it happens. What I really love about her is that she sees everything for the first time, every time. And she’s one of the best listeners I’ve ever met,” he said of the actress.
However, while drinking in a West Hollywood bar, McConaughey spotted Camila Alves walk in and fell head over heels for the Brazilian model.
While they did not begin to date exclusively for another year and a half, he went on to marry Alves and the couple now have three children together.
‘The first time I saw her walk across the room, I didn’t say, “Who is that?” I said, “What is that?”
‘The way she moved, I could see a person who knows who they are. There’s a person who spends time with herself, and is not advertising for this world, and is not asking permission. From that night, I haven’t been on a date with anyone else’.”
