“It was quite affecting.”

We’d have thought that royal weddings were stiff-upper-lip occasions but it turns out that very posh people get just as emotional as the rest of us when they’re getting hitched.

Princess Eugenie of York wed Jack Brooksbank in a ceremony at St George’s Chapel in Windsor in front of more than 850 guests on Friday.

The day was no doubt a little more relaxed than the weddings of Prince William and Prince Harry and the groom managed to steal the show at the reception with a heartfelt tribute to his new bride.

According to one guest, there wasn’t a dry eye in the room.

Anthony Wallersteiger, who was Jack’s headmaster at school, revealed that even Eugenie shed a tear during the toast.

“For a young man of 32 to be that open about his emotions, was quite affecting,” Wallersteiger told Hello Magazine.

“He talked about how she is the one light of his life. She makes him complete and he can’t imagine spending a day apart.

“Everyone cried – Eugenie’s eyes went too. I mean she wasn’t sobbing. It was just lovely, sweet, short and modern.”

Eugenie’s dad Prince Andrew, meanwhile, reportedly broke from tradition during his speech by turning to give his new son-in-law a hug.
