Hugh Grant has revealed that he no longer plans to appear in the upcoming third Bridget Jones film.

The actor, who played love interest/cheat Daniel Cleaver in the first two films, has confirmed he is dropping out of any further project plans for the latest film instalment of the book ‘Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy’ which was released last year.

The actor, who previously admitted the script is still being “polished up”, told Midlands’ Free Radio:

“I decided not to do it. But I think they’re going to go ahead and do it without Daniel. The book’s excellent, by the way, but the script is completely different – well, the script as I last saw it a few years ago.”

According to media reports, the third book will differ greatly from the book ‘Mad About The Boy’.

Original cast member Colin Firth has been tipped to reprise his role as Mark Darcy, but a rumoured drift between author Helen Fielding and Renée Zellweger means the actress has yet to sign a deal to bring Bridget back to the silver screen.
