“I Try My Best To Have A Positive Outlook” – Ashley Roberts Opens Up About Cervical Cancer Scare

Former Pussycat Doll singer Ashley Roberts has revealed that she has had three separate cervical cancer scares. The TV presenter, who said the first set of pre-cancerous cells were detected after a routine smear test, underwent a ‘few procedures’ preventing the cancer from spreading. In an interview with Star magazine, the 34-year old said: “I've had pre-cancerous cells removed from my cervix and it's scary. It can happen to any woman, no matter what race, sexuality or age you are. "Fortunately doctors caught it early. I've had to have a few procedures, which is not comfortable or fun, but thank God I'm healthy now. I wake up every morning in gratitude for that. Health is wealth." Ashley added that she had three operations to clear the cells, saying it was the support of family and friends who got her through the time: "Three [operations] – in 2008, 2009 and 2012. Thankfully I've been clear ever since. I make sure I have regular smear tests. I try my best to have a positive outlook because mental awareness is an important way to lead your life." "I'm thankful I have friends and family to help deal with it." Speaking about the ordeal, Ashley said she relied on former bandmate Kimberly Wyatt, who brought her to the hospital and supported her through the first scare.
