Rapper Kanye West has been named as a suspect in an alleged battery offence, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Kanye is being investigated after an incident was reported in the early hours of Thursday morning in Los Angeles.

In a statement, the LAPD said: “This morning at 3am, officers responded to Santa Fe Ave and Bay Street.

“A Battery Report was completed with Kanye West as a named suspect.

“No arrests have been made and the incident is being investigated by our Newton Division.”

Only hours before the incident, Kanye was said to be socialising with singer Madonna, boxer Floyd Mayweather and actress Julia Fox.

An Instagram video was uploaded by the owner of Hollywood Unlocked, Jason Lee showing the group listening to Drake.

Earlier in the day, it was announced that the 44 year old would be taking to the stage at Coachella on the Sunday for this year’s festival, alongside Harry Styles and Billie Eilish.

The last year has been a whirlwind for Kanye, with reality star Kim Kardashian filing for divorce citing irreconcilable differences that “continued to exist” between the pair in February.

Kim filed legal documents that call for immediate termination of her marriage to Kanye West last month.

The documents, which were obtained by PA, state that there will be no reconciliation between Kardashian and West.

The documents read: “I submit this declaration in support of my request for an order bifurcating and terminating the status of my marriage to respondent, Kanye West.

“Irreconcilable differences have existed and continue to exist between (West) and me, which have caused our marriage to irretrievably break down.

“No counseling or reconciliation effort will be of any value at this time.

“There will be no prejudice to (West) if our marriage is immediately dissolved, especially given the fact that throughout our marriage, we adhered to the terms of our premarital agreement and maintained the separate property character of our assets.”
