She appears opposite Mark Ruffalo and Adam Levine in John Carney’s Begin Again and speculation is now growing that Keira Knightley will make an appearance to promote the film at this year’s Galway Film Fleadh.

The actress, best known for her roles in Love Actually and Atonement, plays Gretta in the movie, a woman who moves to New York with her long-time boyfriend and songwriting partner Dave when he lands a deal with a major label.

His new-found fame tempts Dave to stray, leading a distraught Gretta to hook up with Dan (Mark Ruffalo), a disgraced record-label exec, who stumbles upon her performing on an East Village stage and is immediately captivated by her talent.

The film is the newest release by writer and director John Carney, who was behind the hugely-successful Once featuring Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova.

Begin Again will open the Galway Film Fleadh, which runs from July 8th to 13th, and publicity officer William Fitzgerald this week told The Connaught Tribune that the festival was still awaiting confirmation on a possible appearance from Knightley, Ruffalo and Levine.

“It’s impossible to say at this point. John Carney is the only one totally confirmed. We’re crossing our fingers,” he said.

“Mark Ruffalo would also be a big draw after his role in the Avengers. We are hoping a number of stars will be here but we’re waiting to lock in travel details before we announce anything.”
