The X-Factor was back this weekend, and it’s already surrounded in controversy thanks to Lord Sugar’s Twitter antics yesterday evening.
Following Josh Daniel’s audition, where he sang a rendition of Labrinth’s ‘Jealous’ dedicated to his late best friend, viewers saw Simon Cowell grow increasingly emotional on last night’s show.
It’s believed Simon’s emotional reaction was down to the recent death of his mother just days before filming of the new season began…
While most fans tweeted words of sympathy or surprise to see the music mogul so vulnerable on TV, Lord Sugar decided to tweet his disbelief of the sentiment:
Simon on X Factor might have been crying because his trousers were too tight . Is this pathetic or what . The public are not that daft .

X factor taking p… out of the public. My 2 grandkids rolling with laughter over a couple of the pathetic stooges https://t.co/5GsiLLiq4h — Lord Sugar (@Lord_Sugar) August 30, 2015
The reaction was met with a lot of hostility, with show fans writing:
@Lord_Sugar Erm, fairly sure it’s because his Mum died shortly before filming this.

@Lord_Sugar its quite clearly not an attempt to get more viewers. @SimonCowell lost his mother around that time. Wow I used to like you man. — becky (@_beckygroom) August 30, 2015
@Lord_Sugar Harsh. His Mum died. Are you getting empathy lessons from @kthopkins?

Simon has yet to respond to the claims made by Lord Sugar.
