“Shocked And Appalled”: Singer FKA Twigs Subjected To Racial Abuse Due to Relationship With Robert Pattinson

The price of fame is high for Robert Pattinson’s girlfriend, FKA Twigs, who has been subjected to racial abuse on Twitter since a picture of the couple holding hands emerged last week. FKA Twigs, real name Tahliah Debrett Barnett, was appalled at the reaction of fans to the burgeoning relationship and took to Twitter yesterday saying: “I am genuinely shocked and disgusted at the amount of racism that has been infecting my account the past week.” A number of Twitter users have left hateful comments on her wall including racist statements such as “you’re like a monkey”. Tahliah followed up her tweet with another, adding:

The British singer stated in an interview recently that she has experienced racism before while growing up. “Either your hair’s different, or the colour of your skin, or your features. Half of my life I’ve had people staring at me because they think I’m funny-looking and ugly,” she told Dazed & Confused. The pair were spotted out together last week.
