“I don’t understand why we pay a contribution to one of the wealthiest families in the world.”
After sharing her thoughts on the idea of the monarchy years ago, Stacey Solomon has questioned its operations once again.
In an interview with The Guardian, Stacey was asked about the viral clip of her discussing the monarchy on Loose Women.
“I don’t get why we’re so obsessed with these humans that are exactly the same – it could be us four sitting there,” she said at the time.”
Stacey then said that to her, the royal family are no different to celebrities, and when one her co-hosts Linda Robson defended the Queen for working “really hard”, Stacey said: “I would work really hard if the whole country paid for me to have like 12 houses, to work really hard.”
In the weeks that followed, fans labelled the X Factor star “comrade Stacey”. It also gained traction when the UK entered its mourning period earlier this year.

When asked about the now viral clip, the singer said that she feels bad about it circulating so soon after Queen Elizabeth’s death.
“They’re regurgitating it at the moment, which is really difficult because obviously I didn’t say it on the Queen’s passing,” she said.
“I have nothing against the monarchy and the Queen seemed like a lovely lady, but I don’t understand why we pay a contribution to one of the wealthiest families in the world.”
She continued: “Some of our kids weren’t even getting school lunches, and to know a huge amount of money is going to somebody who doesn’t need it, I just couldn’t get my head around that.”
She added that she would prefer an “opt-in-opt-out” version, where the public can decide to give money to the monarchy or not. However, she added that she’s not interested in “fronting a revolution”.
