These are the 10 highest paid actresses in the world

Megan Roantree

Well-deserved too!

Jennifer Lawrence is a diverse, talented actress, so it’s no wonder she topped the list of highest paid actresses for the third year in a row.

Jennifer Lawrence attends the premiere of 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2' in Los Angeles, California.

Jennifer’s name frequently comes up whenever we’re asked which celebrity we would most like to be best friends with. This is for several reasons, while we love her sense of humour, her honestly and her brilliant acting, we also appreciate her speaking out about the feminism.

Last year, she penned an essay about the gender pay gap, which is a huge issue in Hollywood, just like most other areas of work.

She said:

“When the Sony hack happened and I found out how much less I was being paid than the lucky people with d****, I didn’t get mad at Sony. I got mad at myself. I failed as a negotiator because I gave up early.”

According to Forbes Jennifer made $46 million over 12 months, which is $13 million more than Melissa McCarthy who ranked 2nd.

While this is a serious amount of money, it is still a lot less than what the highest paid actor, Dwayne Johnson who is earning $64.5 million. Which means there is an wage gap of $18.5 million between them.

When Jennifer is ranked among men and women, she is the 7th most paid actor in the business.

So while it is a huge celebration for Jennifer we hope that next year’s list doesn’t have such a big gap between the highest paid actor and actress.

Here is a list of the other actresses who made the top ten:

1. Jennifer Lawrence, $46 million

2. Melissa McCarthy, $33 million

3. Scarlett Johansson, $25 million

4. Jennifer Aniston, $21 million

5. Fan Bingbing, $17 million

6. Charlize Theron, $16.5 million

7. Amy Adams, $13.5 million

8. Julia Roberts, $12 million

9. Mila Kunis, $11 million

10. Deepika Padukone, $10 million
