Killing Eve is excellent.
It just is.
And if you don’t believe us just take a look at the sheer abundance of awards it’s picked up over the past while.
Golden Globes, Critic’s Choice Awards, and now the stunning 14 BAFTA nods it’s recently nabbed because yes, that is apparently a possibility.
If you haven’t watched Killing Eve yet, you should.
But if you still need some convincing, here are 14 reasons why.
1. Sandra Oh is incredible
She is, lads. She’s won a Golden Globe for her performance for God’s sake.
The woman knows no bounds when it comes to her own versatility and it shows. She’ll make you laugh, cry, gasp, sob, shake violently, and breathe countless sighs of relief all in the space of an hour.
A true and rare talent and we do not deserve her.
2. The end of every single episode will leave you shook
Every single one.
Ends on a cliffhanger? Shook.
Ends on a character death? Shook.
Ends on a seemingly chill enough note that you think everything is sort of wrapped up even though you know it isn’t because there’s still two episodes left in the season? Shook.
3. Jodie Comer is adorable
Sorry, but look at that face.
Look at it.
Not only does Comer have the most perfect and angelic face in all the world, but she’s also an incredible talent who can make you fully believe that she is going to brutally murder anybody she’s told to.
And oh, is she told to.
4. And her Russian accent is excellent
Or it’s totally grand but she’s just so good at playing Villanelle that you’d be tricked into believing it was.
Either or.
5. It’s genuinely funny
Like laugh-out-loud funny.
Like laughing-out-loud-even-more-so-because-you-weren’t-expecting-it-because-you-thought-this-was-going-to-be-a-serious-show funny.
Which is the best kind of funny in fairness.
6. And genuinely heartbreaking
After you laugh you will cry. Loads.
7. You won’t be able to decide whether you fancy Jodie Comer or Sandra Oh more
A good problem to have, some might say.
We’ve already established that both Comer and Oh are brilliant at acting in the show, but what about ensuring that the entire nation fancies them both simultaneously?
Nailing it, in fairness to them.
8. David Haig’s storyline will break you
Enough said, just watch it.
9. There are constant twists at every turn
But not twists that don’t make sense in the context of the show, twists that are totally and utterly shocking but also absolutely believable.
Even the shock deaths (and there’s a load of them) are delightful. So delightful.
10. There are few things like it on TV at the moment
A show about a female assassin who doesn’t spend all of her time just having sex with men and questioning her life decisions until she eventually decides to pack it all in for some bloke she almost murdered?
Sign us up.
11. Fiona Shaw is a total weapon and it’s brilliant
Just when you thought you couldn’t shove any more unreal, badass, but totally believable women into a show and bam, out comes Fiona Shaw.
Into it.
12. There’s a scene in the final episode of season one that is honestly harrowing
In the best way possible.
Think you know what’s going on and exactly how this narrative is going to play out?
You don’t.
13. Season two is just around the corner
It drops on April 7, to be exact.
Which is absolutely plenty of time to make sure you’re entirely up to date before then.
14. And seeing as how popular it is, there’s bound to be a third
There will.
Calling it now.
