Here are the 7 best movies on TV today

Rory Cashin

Bank Holiday Sunday, must be some good movies on the telly, right? Well, let us have a look…

Turns out, yep, there are plenty of decent choices on the small screen to help you Sunday go by relatively painlessly.

Still though, we are surprised there aren’t MORE horror movies on, considering how close we are to Halloween? Ah well, at least we still have Sister Act…

SUNDAY 27 OCTOBER

Sister Act – Channel 4 – 4.30pm

Whoopi Goldberg is the mob wife who is forced to go into witness protection… as a nun. It shouldn’t be as funny as it is, but it is, and here we are.

27 Dresses – Film4 – 6.45pm

Katherine Heigl is always the bridesmaid, never the bride. A specific number of times, actually. Can you guess the number of times she has been the bridesmaid? But will she ever find love herself? That is what this film is hoping you will find out!

Bruce Almighty – Comedy Central – 9pm

Jim Carrey believes that Morgan Freeman (aka God himself) has it in for him and is bad at his Godly job, so God gives Jim the powers of a God to see if he can do any better. About as high concept as comedy gets.

Zero Dark Thirty – ITV4 – 10pm

Jessica Chastain leads an all-star cast in this Oscar-winning drama about the hunt for Osama Bin Laden, and the political fallout from the mission.

Prisoners – Film4 – 10.55pm

Hugh Jackman’s daughter has been kidnapped and he finds that there are no limits to what he will do in order to get her back. An incredibly stylish, dark psychological thriller co-starring Jake Gylenhaal, Viola Davis, Terrence Howard, Paul Dano, and Maria Bello.

Changeling – ITV3 – 11pm

Clint Eastwood directs and Angelina Jolie stars in this true-life drama about a mother who has her missing son returned to her, but the boy brought to her house is not her son. When she makes these claims public, the officials begin to question her sanity.

Night Of The Living Dead – Horror Channel – 11pm

The 1990 remake of the zombie classic sees a small group of survivors take refuge in a farmhouse, but the tensions inside are soon boiling over, making it more dangerous there than it would be out with the zombie hordes.
