The Den is looking for kids and adults to take part in the new reboot series

Did you even grow up in Ireland if you weren’t on The Den?!

Probably not, because everyone and their mam took part on the iconic RTÉ kids show during its original run between 1986 and 2010.

There was fun, there was laughter, there was Zig, Zag, and Ray D’Arcy. And honestly, what else would one ever need from a long-running children’s TV programme?

It not ending abruptly a decade ago would have been something, but listen, what can you do? These things happen. Cuts are made, childhoods are destroyed. We persevere, we move on.

Or at least, we do until RTÉ announces that The Den is coming back, D’Arcy and all, to entertain a whole host of new children and old adults alike.

The new series of The Den will be returning to RTÉ One next month, and in order to make sure the show is as authentic as possible, Ray is looking for some boys, girls, and adults to take part.

“We’re there for the boys and girls and parents and inviting them to do all the thing they used to, and more!” he said. “It’s all very exciting and I can’t wait to be on telly with the boys again.

“People out there need a bit of mayhem, madness and boldness and that’s what we hope to deliver.”

Similarly, the guys are also looking for those lucky folk among us who appeared on The Den back in the day to get in touch, for what will inevitably be some wholesome content dripping in nostalgia.

As well as this, the Den Birthday Roller will also be making a comeback, so if you’ve got someone special in your life you’d like to wish a happy birthday too later this year, you know what to do.

The Den will air on RTÉ One from Sunday 8 November at 6.30pm.
